[01:00:18] <bschnei> sproed: of the ~13k package I have built for arm-v8, I have 33 forks, 15 of which of open MRs. I am missing ~700 packages so it is possible that many more forks might be needed to increase package coverage, but 30 out of 13k is why I claim that the "vast majority" of official Arch packages build without modifications on aarch64.
[01:03:40] <bschnei> It's also never been a goal of mine to provide 100% coverage. I've encountered so many random esoteric packages that don't build on aarch64 (and don't on x64 either) and don't otherwise block popular packages and I have no real incentive or motivation to fix those just for the sake of increasing coverage.
[01:04:04] <bschnei> When/if someone does want it, they will fix it :)
[01:05:29] <bschnei> I do try to occasionally naively "sweep" over missing packages because sometimes things that were broken get fixed, but the amount of packages missing for arm-v8 has been pretty much constant at around 700-800 since April.
[01:06:04] <bschnei> I am, however, focused on the ~100 packages that are missing that block installation of packages that we do have for v8.
[01:09:05] <bschnei> Meanwhile drzee has been hard at work trying to figure out if we can integrate the packages I have built onto the same CI/CD pipeline solskogen runs for v8.2 packages which is far more robust, scalable and sophsiticated than the infra I have for v8 packages.
[01:17:39] <bschnei> For additional clarity, the true breakdown I have as of right now is: 15,248 x64 packages, minus 1,250 Haskell packages, minus 124 packages I currently ignore (extra kernels, etc.) minus 24 packages that are x64 only (this number is probably higher), equals 13,850 packages. 13,066 of which are up-to-date, 743 are missing, 3 are ahead of upstream, and 38 are outdated (need to build). These are package counts, not pkbgase
[01:17:39] <bschnei> counts.

[10:58:58] <SpieringsAE_sff> grrrrrr mkinitcpio autodetect is so bad at autodetecting module dependencies
[11:03:22] <SpieringsAE_sff> it seems to universally ignore USB controllers
[11:04:05] <SpieringsAE_sff> it sees that the PMIC is a dependency of the storage, but then doesn't see that it depends on: i2c, gpio, gpio expander
