geninstall – Generic installer for various packaging formats¶
Synopsis¶
A generic installer that installs software products of various packaging formats.
For example, installp, RPM, SI, and ISMP.
Requirements¶
The below requirements are needed on the host that executes this module.
- AIX >= 7.1 TL3
- Python >= 2.7
Parameters¶
- installp_flags (optional, str, None)
- Specifies the installp flags to use when calling the installp command.
- force (optional, bool, False)
- Forces action.
- install_list (optional, list, [])
List of products to install
allinstalls all products
update_allupdates all products- agree_licenses (optional, bool, False)
- Agrees to required software license agreements for software to be installed.
- device (optional, str, None)
- The name of the device or directory.
- action (optional, str, install)
Controls what is performed.
installperforms an install of the specified software.
uninstallperforms an uninstall of the specified software.
listlists the contents of the media.

Return Values¶
- msg (always, str, Invalid parameter: install_list cannot be empty)
- The execution message.
- stderr (always, str, 0503-105 geninstall: The device or directory: /dev/cd0 does not exist.)
- The standard error
- stdout (always, str, bin:bin:::J:::::::bin Product::::nsbin:sbin:::J:::::::sbin Product::::)
- The standard output
