Frequently asked questions

Can I use the open source version in production?

Yes. EPI Recorder is MIT licensed. You can use it in production, modify it, and distribute it. The open source CLI does full Annex IV compliance. Team and Enterprise tiers add collaboration, RBAC, hosted services, and support.

How does the pilot program work?

You get full Enterprise access for 14 days. We set up a dedicated onboarding call to understand your use case, help you configure signing keys, and walk through your first compliance artifact. No credit card required. At the end of the pilot, you can downgrade to Team, stay on Open Source, or sign an Enterprise agreement.

Do I need the Enterprise tier for EU AI Act compliance?

No. The open source CLI generates Annex IV compliance artifacts with Ed25519 signatures, hash chains, and SCITT transparency receipts. Enterprise adds RBAC enforcement, hosted SCITT, PDF export, and dedicated support — helpful for regulated organizations with formal governance requirements, but not required for technical compliance.

What happens after the pilot?

You choose: stay on the free Open Source tier, subscribe to Team ($499/mo), or sign an Enterprise agreement. Your .epi artifacts are yours forever regardless of tier — they're self-contained, self-verifying files.

Is EPI SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certified?

EPI Recorder is an open-source tool that runs in your infrastructure. We are pursuing SOC 2 for the hosted SCITT service (Enterprise tier). The CLI and verification tools are entirely local — no certification needed for the tools themselves.
