Hey everyone,

I know I've shared bits and pieces of my experience with Gibbys Electronics in previous posts, but I wanted to take this opportunity to share the whole story from my perspective.

I recently went through the process of purchasing a Sony A80L OLED TV from Gibbys Electronics. Initially, I had high hopes for a smooth transaction, especially considering the seamless process of placing my order on March 18th and completing payment via installment plans by April 6th.

However, upon receiving the TV on April 16th, my excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I discovered a noticeable dent in the frame. Despite my immediate notification to Gibbys on April 22nd, they disputed my claim, citing a delay in reporting, and even ignored my offer to reassemble the box with minor tape.

What added to my frustration was the mishandling of confidential information. Private emails exchanged between my salesperson and the service department were shared without my consent, containing sensitive details about my purchase and interactions with Gibbys. in the owners reply to try and discredit my original google review i had shared,

Throughout the resolution process, I found Gibbys to display a concerning lack of initiative, failing to adhere to Sony's policy regarding concealed damage. Despite my repeated attempts to convey Sony's directives, Gibbys ignored the explicit instructions from Sony's staff, prolonging the resolution process and exacerbating my frustration.

On the flip side, Sony's customer service pleasantly surprised me with their professionalism and commitment to resolving the issue. While it did take some effort to connect with the right person at Sony, once I did, they displayed genuine understanding and compassion.

Reflecting on this entire experience, I genuinely hope that Gibbys can learn and improve from it. However, as someone requiring additional time and assistance with setup due to being a wheelchair user, the prolonged process underscored the importance of supportive customer service—a factor where Gibbys fell short.

While I've always been a proponent of supporting small businesses, my experience highlights the need to prioritize a satisfying shopping experience. For substantial purchases like electronics, larger retailers like Amazon or Best Buy offer better consumer protections, wider selections, competitive pricing, and reliable customer support services.

In conclusion, I wanted to provide the full story from my perspective, detailing the highs and lows of my experience with Gibbys Electronics. Despite their promises, their actions spoke volumes, and I was left deeply disappointed.

I'm eager to hear your thoughts and experiences as well.

@eljaycanuck Thanks for linking all this together ind hindsight I probably should have just put everything in one post but i wasn't sure how much i could share until it was over. Sony replaced my TV under warranty and because i had such a bad experience with the store extended my warranty by 2 years i went from being hopeless to having way more then asked for it was what they call a swap i felt like royalty by the end of it.

I typically purchase from large retailers like Amazon and Best Buy because if there's an issue, it's easy to return the product no questions asked. Even if it costs a little more. I'll only take a risk if the savings are substantial.

Scummy with scum business practices. They did not send me a receiver in January - somehow misplaced by fedex apparently. I cancelled the order and asked for a refund. They told me the only way to get my money back was to file a dispute with my credit card company which is sketch. I did anyway. CC company credited me and I didn't think about it again. 2 month later my CC company calls to say they're putting the charges back on as the receiver was delivered 5 weeks after I asked for my refund. I didn't receive anything; I was in the hospital that week. They sent it 'no signature required'. Why the hell would anyone send a $1000 piece of stereo equipment with no signature required? And, you have to buzz to get into my building. It rings to my phone not matter where I am. It didn't. I have ring doorbell cams. Nothing. Guess what? I'm going to ends up footing it! They either didn't send it or were so ****ing incompetent they gave it to a random person 'near' my place. And, they say they send it 5 WEEKS LATER. Incompetent baboons. Stay away!
