Moira curated deep-sky coordinate anchors
=========================================

The object selection and runtime coordinate doctrine are maintained by the
Moira project. The packaged object identities, ICRS/J2000 coordinates,
object-type labels, proper motions, coordinate-quality flags, and coordinate
bibliographic codes were retrieved from the SIMBAD astronomical database,
operated at CDS, Strasbourg, France. SIMBAD is available under the Open Data
Commons Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0:

Requested SIMBAD acknowledgement:

This research has made use of the SIMBAD database, operated at CDS,
    Strasbourg, France.

SIMBAD reference: Wenger et al. (2000), A&AS 143, 9,
bibcode 2000A&AS..143....9W.

The five exoplanet-host identities were independently checked against the
NASA Exoplanet Archive Planetary Systems Composite Parameters table. Please
cite NASA Exoplanet Archive DOI 10.26133/NEA1 when using those data.

Per-record source identities and coordinate bibliographic codes, the source
snapshot timestamp, the exact queried fields, selection policy, and artifact
SHA-256 are retained in deep_sky_catalog.json and
deep_sky_catalog.metadata.json.

The typed cosmic-reference registry also uses SIMBAD catalog-center
coordinates for ACO 3627 and ACO 3558 under the same acknowledgement and
license. Its 2026-09-08 snapshot coordinates, coordinate bibcodes, proxy
semantics, and supporting literature are recorded in moira/cosmic_references.py
and PROVENANCE.md; those two records are not part of the 60-entry deep-sky
artifact or its SHA-256 receipt.

These records are coordinate anchors. The center assigned to an extended
galaxy, nebula, cluster, or remnant is not a claim that the object is a point
mass. Solar-System objects are excluded because they require time-dependent
ephemerides rather than a frozen J2000 direction.
