THE LICENCE

Everything in this repository -- the browser version in web/, the Wii port in
wii/, the tests, the build files and the documentation -- is licensed under the
PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0, in the LICENSE file beside this one.

Read it, learn from it, build on it, play with it. Any noncommercial purpose is
permitted, and that includes personal projects, teaching and research. What is
not permitted is commercial use: selling the game or a derivative of it,
shipping it inside a product, or running it as part of a business.

This is a change from the Apache License 2.0 that earlier versions of the Wii
port carried. Commits made before that change remain available under Apache 2.0
in the git history; everything from the relicensing commit forward is
PolyForm Noncommercial.

WHAT IS RESERVED OUTRIGHT

The character sprites in wii/sprites/ (48 files, 24 characters) and the art in
web/, the audio in wii/audio/ and web/audio/, the characters themselves and
their names, the game's name, and the Moonlight Drift and magmacrunch names and
marks.

Those are Copyright 2026 magmacrunch media, all rights reserved. They are in the
repository because the game is built from them, not because they are offered
for reuse -- the licence covers the software, and it grants no trademark rights.

The music, "Moonlight Drift" by C.P. Rutledge, is a magmacrunch media record
label release rather than an outside licence. It sits with everything else
reserved above: in the repository because the game is built from it, not
because it is on offer.

If you want to use any of it, ask.

THIRD-PARTY COMPONENTS

Press Start 2P, by CodeMan38, licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The
font is embedded in the Wii binary by way of magnolia rather than shipped here
as a file.

magnolia, the Wii engine the port is built on, and adenosine, the browser engine
the web version uses, are Copyright 2026 magmacrunch media under the Apache
License 2.0. They are separate repositories and keep that licence -- the engines
are meant to be reused; this game is not.

GRRLIB and devkitPPC are used under their own terms and are not distributed
here.

LINEAGE

Moonlight Drift descends from Jetman (2007) by Simon Dorsey, after Helicopter
(2002) by David McCandless and SFCave (1995) by Yohei Iwasaki. No code or assets
from any of those are used here; the acknowledgement is on the credits screen
because it is worth saying.
